Project status: Completed

Description: The winning project from the 2022 Straits annual conference (see Film) this will see the schools exchange good practices on increasing the use of local and sustainable food and on creating dedicated areas for growing food for their schools. The project will involve a 3-day exchange with visits to Brockhill Park school in Kent to see its farm and to the Lycée Mariette’s Eco-high school in Boulogne with a local cuisine workshop; and a one-day workshop hosted at the Hardelot Centre in France to plan and implement an ongoing collaborative network as a project legacy.

News: The project exchange took place from 10-12th October 2022.  This was hosted at Kent’s Hardelot Centre. It included site visits to Brockhill Park College, Hythe, and Lycée Mariette, Boulogne, cookery demonstration and a planting workshop. A film of the October workshop was produced by Pas-de-Calais.

Local implementation at each participating school has included improving what was already in place by investing in new equipment and better promotion, or by creating new growing areas from scratch. Each school has documented the project's progress in film. The Province of West-Flanders will use this material to produce and end-of-project film.

Among the benefits for the schools that took part have been local press coverage, the winning of a national award, and ongoing cooperation.
