On July 7, 2021, the fourth Executive Committee of the Straits Committee took place in Ghent. This meeting allowed the members of the Committee to re-launch cross-border exchanges between the six local authorities of the Strait, physically reunited for the first time since the Executive Committee of July 1, 2020 in Middleburg.
The Executive Committee in Ghent was the opportunity to discover the planned Youth Event of the Straits Committee organized by the Europe House Ryckewelde. This event will take place from October 2021 to April 2022 and will bring together nearly 200 young people who will reflect together on the implementation of projects on the theme of the environment and sustainable development. It will culminate in a three-day meeting in March 2022 in Bruges, that will bring together these young people from the four countries of the Straits Committee.
This Executive Committee was also highlighted by the participation of the Essex County Council and the Province of South Holland. Both local authorities expressed their enthusiasm in joining the Straits Committee. They will become official members at the next Executive Committee meeting to be held in October 2021 in Pas-de-Calais.
